The European Union promises to provide Ukraine with a \u20ac90 billion loan, even despite Hungary’s blocking.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference after the EU leaders’ summit, Radio Liberty reports.<\/p>\n

“The loan remains blocked because one leader is not keeping his word. But let me repeat what I already said in Kyiv. We will fulfill our promise one way or another,” von der Leyen said.<\/p>\n

European Council President Antonio Costa also assured that the funds would be provided to Ukraine. He added that EU leaders did not return to discussing the issue again during the summit, but only “clearly condemned the position of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban” who refused to support the loan.<\/p>\n

“All leaders must keep their word. And no one can blackmail the European Council. No one can blackmail the institutions of the European Union. And we must implement this decision,” Costa stressed.<\/p>\n

The day before, European leaders failed to convince Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to abandon<\/a> the decision to block a $90 billion loan for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on Thursday, February 19, the EU leaders’ summit kicked off in Brussels, where one of the key issues was financial support for Ukraine<\/a> , in particular the possible unlocking of a 90 billion euro aid package.<\/p>\n

As reported, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated in Brussels that Budapest will not unblock the decision in favor of Ukraine until the Druzhba oil pipeline resumes operation.<\/a><\/p>\n
