Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said his country would not back down from Ukraine and the European Union leadership, comparing the confrontation to the fall of communism. He stressed the unchangeability of Budapest’s political course.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wrote about this in X.<\/a><\/p>\n

In his video address, Orban said that Hungary has experience in fighting for freedom and sovereignty and will not allow external forces to influence its policies.<\/p>\n

“We overthrew communism. We fought for our freedom. We built a Christian, family-based and patriotic state. And now Zelensky and the people of Brussels think we will back down? Don’t make me laugh,” said Viktor Orban.<\/p>\n

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, the country has already gone through difficult stages of history, including the overthrow of the communist regime and the withdrawal of Soviet troops.<\/p>\n

The statement came against the backdrop of parliamentary elections in Hungary, scheduled for April 2026. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously noted that the Hungarian authorities are spreading anti-Ukrainian sentiment during the election campaign.<\/p>\n

“Such a situation is bad for all parties,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n
