The SBU counterintelligence detained a Russian military intelligence agent in Rivne who was coordinating air attacks on facilities in the western region of Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The investigation established that the suspect is a former employee of a factory in the Donetsk region. After being fired, he looked for part-time work in Telegram channels, where he was recruited by representatives of the Russian special services.<\/p>\n

At the curator’s direction, the agent arrived in the Rivne region to collect coordinates of potential targets. He was primarily interested in enterprises of the defense-industrial complex and locations of Ukrainian military deployments.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In Rivne, he stayed in a hotel and traveled around the city by taxi. During his trips, the attacker photographed objects that could be used for defense orders or troop basing.<\/p>\n

He also tried to identify the positions of mobile fire groups, radar stations, and anti-aircraft missile systems covering the airspace of the region.<\/p>\n

The SBU detained an agent while filming the facade of a business. They seized a smartphone with coordinates of Ukrainian facilities, which he planned to pass on to Russian intelligence.<\/p>\n

Investigators informed him of suspicion of treason under martial law. The court took the defendant into custody without bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.<\/p>\n

The operation was carried out by SBU officers in the Rivne region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, in Kharkiv, the SBU counterintelligence, together with the National Police, prevented a series of terrorist attacks in the city center.<\/a> Law enforcement officers detained a Russian agent who was preparing explosions near administrative buildings.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the SBU counterintelligence and the National Police prevented a terrorist attack in the center of Kharkiv and detained a 16-year-old Russian military intelligence agent.<\/a><\/p>\n
