The Pentagon<\/span><\/span> is considering the possibility of redirecting some of the weapons planned for transfer to Ukraine to the Middle East due to depleted ammunition stockpiles.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Washington Post<\/span><\/span> reported<\/a> this, citing sources familiar with the situation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This concerns, in particular, interceptor missiles for air defense systems, which were purchased under the NATO<\/span><\/span> PURL program, through which US allies purchase American weapons for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

No final decision has been made at this time. The Pentagon stated that the United States will provide both its own forces and its allies with everything they need, but declined to comment further.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna,<\/span><\/span> noted that Kyiv continues to inform its partners of its needs, particularly in the air defense sector, while acknowledging the period of “significant uncertainty.”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to a NATO source, Alliance countries continue to contribute to the PURL program, and arms supplies to Ukraine continue.<\/p>\n

Trump earlier said the US and Iran had held talks, following which he ordered a five-day halt to the strikes<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Subsequently, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that there were no direct negotiations with the United States<\/a> , and Trump did not abandon his military plans.<\/p>\n
