Two US senators from different parties plan to introduce a bill that would impose sanctions against senior Hungarian officials for obstructing support for Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> the Financial Times.<\/p>\n

The idea came after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked a \u20ac90 billion loan to Ukraine. The bill, dubbed the “Putin Blockade,” is set to be introduced this week. If passed, it would require US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on Hungarian government officials involved in buying Russian oil and gas and blocking aid to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The bill was sponsored by Democrat Jeanne Shaheen and Republican Tom Tillis, co-chairs of the Senate NATO watchdog group. Both politicians have repeatedly criticized Europe’s dependence on Russian energy.<\/p>\n

“This bill holds senior Hungarian officials accountable and at the same time gives Hungary a chance to restore relations with its allies if it ends its dependence on Russian energy and stops blocking aid to Ukraine,” Tillis said.<\/p>\n

In turn, \u015eahin sharply criticized US Vice President JD Vance, who, according to media reports, plans to visit Hungary before the parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n

“It is unbelievable that Vice President Vance is going to support a corrupt government that continues to fund the Russian war machine. If the US wants to end the war in Ukraine, the same standards must be applied to all allies. Orban must not go unpunished,” she stressed.<\/p>\n

The final text of the bill does not directly name Viktor Orb\u00e1n. The congressman’s aide explained that it will be up to the Trump administration to determine which Hungarian officials are responsible for withholding aid to Ukraine and maintaining the country’s dependence on Russian energy.<\/p>\n

Recall that the decision on a loan for Ukraine of 90 billion euros has not yet been made<\/a> – Hungary’s veto remains in effect, but the EU expects that a compromise will be found in the near future.<\/p>\n

As reported, the European Union promises to provide Ukraine with a \u20ac90 billion loan, even despite Hungary’s blocking<\/a> .<\/p>\n

It should be noted that European leaders were unable to convince Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to abandon the decision to block a 90 billion loan for Ukraine<\/a> .<\/p>\n

By the way, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated in Brussels that Budapest will not unblock the decision in favor of Ukraine until the Druzhba oil pipeline resumes operation.<\/a><\/p>\n
