The Gulf states, amid the war with Iran, are increasingly skeptical of US security guarantees and disappointed in Washington’s strategy. This is increasing their willingness to diversify geopolitical ties, in particular through rapprochement with China.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to sources familiar with the situation, representatives of the countries of the region privately question the advisability of placing American military bases that have made their territories targets for attacks. At the same time, these reservations are not voiced publicly.<\/p>\n

Officials also express concern about the lack of a clear US strategy in the war with Iran, as well as the goals and intentions of US President Donald Trump. Against this background, countries in the region continue to come under attack and the Strait of Hormuz remains almost closed, resulting in significant losses in oil exports.<\/p>\n

Of particular concern is the possibility of concluding an agreement between the US and Iran without restrictions on Tehran’s missile program and its support for allied groups.<\/p>\n

In this case, the Persian Gulf countries fear being left alone with Iran, which will retain influence over the Strait of Hormuz and regional security.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is impossible to allow this aggression to turn into a permanent threat,\u201d said Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the president of the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

At the same time, some countries, in particular the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, are considering the possibility of a tougher response to Iran, including participation in attacks in the event of new strikes on their infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll options remain on the table to ensure the openness of the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d said United Arab Emirates Minister of State Lana Nusseibeh.<\/p>\n

Against this backdrop, there is growing interest in the region to strengthen cooperation with China. According to sources, Beijing is perceived as a more predictable global player, despite the lack of security guarantees.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Gulf countries are questioning the effectiveness of large-scale investments in the United States, which were previously announced as the basis of a strategic partnership.<\/p>\n

By the way, Iran rejected a United States proposal<\/a> with potential conditions to end the war in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Trump said that the US and Iran had held talks, following which he ordered a five-day halt to strikes<\/a> . Later, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that there had been no direct talks with the US<\/a> , and Trump had not abandoned his military plans.<\/p>\n
