Ireland has decided to increase military assistance to Ukraine and announced the allocation of an additional 40 million euros, which will be directed to humanitarian needs and long-term support.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by Foreign Minister Helen McEntee during her visit to Ukraine,<\/span> quoted by<\/span><\/a> “European Pravda”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most of the money \u2014 over 26 million euros \u2014 will be directed to humanitarian aid, with almost 14 million euros more going to long-term support for development and peacebuilding.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have seen firsthand the consequences of this war in our own communities, as families opened their homes and hearts to those fleeing violence,\u201d the minister emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to her, Irish aid aims to support families and provide people with the support they need to survive, rebuild, and live a dignified life.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis additional funding will provide practical, targeted assistance to those who need it most \u2013 children, families and those living in frontline areas, and will also support Ukraine’s long-term recovery and its path to EU membership,\u201d the official explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

As noted, the aid will be delivered through partners, including UN agencies and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u20ac40 million will be in addition to the assistance announced in February to restore critical energy facilities. In total, Ireland will provide \u20ac65 million to Ukraine this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is Ireland’s largest contribution to humanitarian aid and development in Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022 and a significant increase compared to the \u20ac35 million provided in 2025,\u201d assured Helen McEntee.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that 2 million euros from the funding package will be transferred to Moldova to overcome challenges related to the Russian Federation’s war in Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

It recently became known that the Swedish government announced a new aid package for 2026<\/a> worth about 240 million Swedish kronor.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the US State Department announced that the US will fund programs to return Ukrainian children<\/a> who were forcibly taken away by Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n
