The Ukrainian army has begun an official inspection of the actions of the 425th Assault Regiment “Skelya”, which fought in the Pokrovsk area of the Donetsk region at the end of March.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

This is about the March 31 operation near Hryshyne, where the unit used armored vehicles during offensive operations. The Airborne Assault Forces confirmed that the situation is currently being analyzed by higher command.<\/p>\n

“A service check is being conducted,” the troops reported and urged not to spread hasty assessments so as not to harm the combat situation.<\/p>\n

The scandal surrounding this operation arose after a statement<\/a> by an advisor to the Minister of Defense, Serhiy Sternenko. He criticized the actions of the military and stated that using a convoy of equipment in conditions of active drones could have led to losses. <\/p>\n

The “Skelya” regiment itself does not agree with such assessments. They explain<\/a> that it was not a “mindless assault”, but a counterattack necessary to hold positions.<\/p>\n

“Otherwise, the enemy could surround our units,” the military say.<\/p>\n

According to them, the operation was prepared taking into account the situation: aerial reconnaissance was in operation, there was artillery and drone support, and the equipment had additional protection.<\/p>\n

During the battle, some of the armored vehicles were hit by Russian drones as they approached their positions. Despite this, the assault group was able to disembark and continue the mission.<\/p>\n

The regiment says that the losses amounted to two dead, and the crews of the equipment were able to be evacuated.<\/p>\n

The military also claims that the criticism was based on videos from Russian sources, which may have been edited and do not reflect the real picture of the battle.<\/p>\n

Currently, “Skel” is conducting its own analysis of the operation and promises to transfer all materials to the command.<\/p>\n
