Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation in the areas of security, energy, and support for peace initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting took place at Dolmabahce Palace, where the parties discussed key issues of bilateral relations and international security. Zelensky thanked Turkey for its support for Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression and assistance in the return of prisoners.<\/p>\n

The leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Zelenskyy reported on the results of his visits to the countries of the region and the agreements reached.<\/p>\n

“It is important that joint and coordinated actions strengthen the protection of life and allow for greater security for people in every part of the world. We agreed on new steps in security cooperation,” the President of Ukraine said.<\/p>\n

The parties paid special attention to defense cooperation, in particular the implementation of joint projects in the defense-industrial complex and the development of technological partnership.<\/p>\n

During the talks, Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s readiness to contribute to achieving a lasting peace for Ukraine and support its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also stated his readiness to host the next round of talks with the participation of delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia.<\/p>\n

The development of economic cooperation, in particular the removal of barriers to bilateral trade, was discussed separately.<\/p>\n

Significant emphasis was placed on the energy sector. The presidents considered the possibilities of implementing joint projects in gas infrastructure and the prospects for joint development of gas fields.<\/p>\n

Zelensky and Erdogan also agreed on further contacts at the level of relevant departments. In particular, a meeting is planned between the head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Serhiy Koretsky, and the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar.<\/p>\n
