The United States, Iran and some regional mediators are discussing the possibility of implementing a 45-day ceasefire that could lead to a final truce.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This<\/span> was reported<\/span><\/a> by Axios, citing sources.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the interlocutors, the chances of reaching a partial agreement within the next 48 hours are small.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, an attempt to negotiate a ceasefire is the only chance to prevent a sharp escalation of the conflict. In particular, we are talking about massive strikes on Iran’s civilian infrastructure and retaliatory attacks on energy and water facilities in Middle Eastern countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, US President Donald Trump assured that the US is “in deep talks” with Iran, and an agreement could be reached by Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a good chance, but if they don\u2019t make a deal, I\u2019ll blow everything up there,\u201d he threatened.<\/span><\/p>\n

Diplomatic efforts to resolve the war are being carried out through a number of mediators \u2014 Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt, four sources said.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi interact via text messages.<\/span><\/p>\n

The American official noted that the United States has made several proposals to Iran in recent days, but Tehran has not yet accepted them.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is known that mediators are discussing a two-stage proposal with the parties. First, the countries will cease fire for 45 days, during which they will reach a final truce. And later, they will conclude an agreement to end the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Iran is unlikely to agree to give up highly enriched uranium and unblock the Strait of Hormuz in favor of a 45-day ceasefire. The mediators expressed concern about this and stressed that “the next 48 hours are the last chance to reach an agreement.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt are trying to understand whether the Iranian side is ready for compromise and are working on steps that the Trump administration could take to convince Tehran that war will not happen again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the new Iranian president had offered Washington a ceasefire<\/a> between the two countries. He added that the US would consider the issue when \u201cthe Strait of Hormuz is open, free and clear.\u201d<\/p>\n
