Yulia Grishina, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People faction, said that it is necessary to legislate on children’s access to social networks. According to her, the digital safety of teenagers has become a matter of national security, especially in times of war.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The politician announced this during a plenary session in the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

Grishina emphasizes that the modern media space carries critical risks for minors: from cyberbullying and psychological pressure to attempts to recruit teenagers by Russian special services.<\/p>\n

“We must protect our children. Today, social networks are not only entertainment, but also a space where a child can become a victim of manipulation or hostile propaganda,” the deputy notes.<\/p>\n

The working group is currently studying the experience of European countries where age restrictions apply (for example, a ban on registration for children under 14-16 years of age without parental permission).<\/p>\n

However, Grishina stated that Ukraine will develop its own model, which will take into account:<\/p>\n

Martial law: threats from Russian information operations.
Refugee children: connection with Ukrainians abroad.
Verification mechanisms: how to technically verify a user’s age.<\/p>\n

The MP admitted that the topic is causing heated discussions even in her family. According to Grishina, her own daughter is alarmed by such an initiative and asks: “Mom, how will we live without social networks?” This, according to the politician, only confirms the deep dependence of teenagers on gadgets.<\/p>\n

The consultation phase with parent and teacher communities is currently underway. The draft law is planned to be finalized after a balance is found between security and the right to access information.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Indonesian authorities have introduced new restrictions for users under the age of 16 on social media<\/a> . The decision was made amid global tightening of control over digital platforms.<\/p>\n

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky is afraid to close Telegram for two reasons – fear of losing his rating<\/a> , as well as wasting the huge resources that the authorities have invested in promoting anonymous Telegram channels of millionaires.<\/p>\n
