The European Parliament has warned that Hungary\u2019s parliamentary elections face serious threats to their integrity, citing alleged Russian interference and the misuse of state resources.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Five influential MEPs have expressed doubts about the possibility of holding a free and fair vote scheduled for the coming days.<\/p>\n

The appeal emphasizes that democratic competition in the country is under pressure due to information campaigns and external influence.<\/p>\n

MEPs also pointed to possible support for the ruling Fidesz party from Russian military intelligence.<\/p>\n

They specifically drew attention to the creation of a network of fake media outlets that spread false information about opposition leader Peter Magyar.<\/p>\n

In addition, the deputies mentioned the persecution of investigative journalist Szabolcs P\u00e1nya. The publication of materials regarding the connections between the Hungarian authorities and Moscow led to his espionage charges.<\/p>\n

MEPs believe that such actions are accompanied by a public campaign of discredit and create additional pressure on independent media.<\/p>\n
