On April 11, on the eve of the feast of the Resurrection of Christ, the Holy Fire descended in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This became known from<\/span> the video broadcast<\/span><\/a> of the solemn ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n

At around 2:20 p.m., His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem emerged from the Kuvukliya of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a chapel with a cave where, according to tradition, Jesus Christ was buried. He held candles with fire in his hands.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was preceded by prayers for peace and blessings for humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is believed that the Holy Fire appears in a miraculous way. It symbolizes the victory of life over death. Believers are convinced that if the fire does not come down, the end of the world will soon come.<\/span><\/p>\n

Traditionally, after the fire ascends, the Patriarch lights and takes out 33 candles. This number represents the number of years in the life of Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Holy Fire will be transferred to churches in different parts of the world, including Ukrainian ones.<\/span><\/p>\n
