In other words, they didn’t so much show as prove.

Both support conditionally anti-Brussels political forces in all countries. Both want to divide the EU, like the Romans, but for different reasons. Trump considers a united Europe a geopolitical competitor, although he does not recognize this; Putin is an obstacle to an aggressive war to restore the evil empire.

Both have lost this battle, and that is important. But they have not yet lost the war: support for Eurosceptics in key EU countries is still growing.

The task for Ukraine in Hungary is to pursue classical, not bullish, diplomacy and to begin active cooperation with the new government. There will be no miracles—Orban’s loss does not mean an automatic win for Ukraine. We need to work to restore relations.

NATO on the Edge: Is the US Ready to Walk Away?

The task for Ukraine in Europe is not to provide pretexts for attacks on the systemic pro-European forces that support us in the war against Russia. This means that the authorities must finally fulfill their promise to carry out reforms to bring legislation closer to European standards, restore democracy and human rights, begin to adhere to the Constitution, and cleanse themselves of the mega-corruption that Zelensky has spread around himself. With all of the above, things are still bad, and this is harming not only Ukraine but also partners who, despite everything, remain partners.

Victory in Hungary is the Battle of Leipzig, but not Waterloo. Napoleon’s plans to destroy Europe remain intact. And Ukraine is one of the main factors here: if it becomes European, not in words but in reality, then Waterloo will come.

As a reminder, as of the morning of April 13, the voting results in Hungary have been almost completely processed. According to the calculations, the opposition party “Tisa,” led by Peter Magyar, is leading by a wide margin, with 98.94% of the votes.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has lifted its recommendations for citizens to refrain from traveling to Hungary. The department now expects the election results to lead to the normalization of relations between our countries, and Ukraine is ready to work towards this goal.

Also, follow “Pryamyi” on Facebook, X, Telegram, and Instagram.

• Materials published in the “OPINIONS” section reflect the opinion of the author of the publication, who bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the information.
• The editorial staff of prm.ua may not share the opinions expressed in the author’s material.
• The owner of the webpage in the “OPINIONS” section is the author of the publication.

Source: Author’s Facebook page The most important thing that the elections in Hungary showed was the joint actions of Trump and Putin towards the European Union.
