The International Aquatics Federation allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete without restrictions – with national symbols and on equal terms with other countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> on the organization’s website.<\/p>\n

From now on, adult athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus will be able to participate in competitions in their uniforms, under flags and with anthems. Previously, the federation had already introduced such relaxations for juniors.<\/p>\n

World Aquatics President Hussein Al Musallam said the organization seeks to prevent political conflicts from spilling over into sports and to preserve the competition as a space for peaceful competition.<\/p>\n

Since 2023, Russian and Belarusian athletes have competed as neutral individual athletes. During this time, the federation has conducted more than 700 tests. Later, teams were also allowed to participate.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Russian Federation and Belarus are restoring full membership rights in the federation in accordance with its charter.<\/p>\n

At the same time, athletes will be allowed to compete only after passing at least four consecutive anti-doping tests in cooperation with the International Testing Agency, as well as after integrity checks.<\/p>\n
