Hungarian opposition leader P\u00e9ter Magyar, whose party won the elections, opposed Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the EU but said he would not block a \u20ac90 billion loan for Kyiv.<\/strong><\/p>\n

European media are writing about this development.<\/p>\n

Magyar stressed that Ukraine, as a country at war, cannot quickly gain membership in the European Union. According to him, all candidates should go through the same accession procedure.<\/p>\n

The politician also backed the \u20ac90 billion loan deal reached in Brussels in December. It stipulates that Hungary may not participate in financing alongside the Czech Republic and Slovakia.<\/p>\n

According to Magyar, the nation is struggling financially and cannot take on more debt.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“We received no EU funds and could not use them to develop the economy, so we cannot take out new loans,” he said.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

At the same time, the politician noted that he sees no point in revising earlier agreements and advocates their implementation.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to him, unlike Viktor Orban, he is ready to allow this decision, which could unblock funding for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Separately, Magyar stated that he is ready for dialogue with Ukraine and plans to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to improve relations.<\/p>\n

He also emphasized that no one has the right to dictate to Ukraine the terms of ending the war and expressed hope that hostilities would cease.<\/p>\n
