The European Union has put forward 27 demands to Hungary’s future Prime Minister Peter Magyar in exchange for unfreezing 35 billion euros for the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Financial Times reported<\/a>, citing European officials.<\/p>\n

Among the key conditions are the unblocking of 90 billion euros in financial aid to Ukraine and the lifting of the veto on sanctions against Russia.<\/p>\n

Brussels is also demanding that Budapest implement anti-corruption reforms and review decisions from the time of Viktor Orban’s government that the EU considers to violate European rules. This includes, in particular, the policy towards asylum seekers and restrictions on academic freedom.<\/p>\n

In addition, the European Commission expects swift negotiations with Magyar to resolve the conflict surrounding the failure to implement the European Court of Justice’s ruling on Hungary’s migration legislation.<\/p>\n

Because of this, Budapest is forced to pay a fine of 1 million euros per day, and the total amount has already approached 900 million euros.<\/p>\n

According to one European official, the EU has enough leverage and expects Magyar to try to achieve results as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Earlier, it was reported that Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyar, whose party won the elections, opposed Ukraine’s accelerated accession to the\u00a0<\/a>EU\u00a0<\/a>but<\/span>\u00a0said he would not block a 90 billion euro loan for Kyiv.<\/p>\n
