The head of the Patrol Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Yevheniy Zhukov, has resigned after a shooting in Kyiv. The decision is related to the scandal surrounding the actions of patrol officers who left the scene after the shots were fired.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Zhukov, he independently made the decision to leave his position after the incident.<\/p>\n

“As a combat officer, I have decided to submit a report for dismissal from the position I hold. I think this will be fair,” said Yevgeny Zhukov.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred after patrol officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, but reportedly left after the shots were fired.<\/p>\n

Zhukov also assessed the actions of his subordinates during the incident.<\/p>\n

“They misdirected themselves and left wounded civilians in danger. A very shameful incident. An official investigation will be conducted and all managers will be held accountable for these actions. All managers who are superiors to these two police officers,” he said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, reported that another position may be determined for Zhukov.<\/p>\n

“Perhaps it will be related to assistance specifically related to the war,” Ivan Vyhovskyi noted.<\/p>\n
