Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has stated a number of factors that may indicate that Belarus is preparing for a military escalation. At the same time, according to him, there has been no record of the formation of strike groups for an imminent offensive.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kuleba noted that since the beginning of 2026, continuous combat training of army units has been underway in Belarus, which is taking place under Russian control. He emphasized that this factor in itself is not a direct threat, but in combination with others it may indicate an increase in risks.<\/p>\n

“Continuous combat training of units of the Belarusian army,” said Dmytro Kuleba.<\/p>\n

The second factor, he called mobilization measures, in particular information about the signing of a decree by Alexander Lukashenko on the conscription of reserve officers. According to Kuleba, this is part of broader preparations.<\/p>\n

“This is just one of the elements of this mobilization preparation,” said Dmytro Kuleba.<\/p>\n

Separately, the former minister drew attention to the actions of Alexander Lukashenko, in particular the conduct of large-scale command and military maneuvers, which indicate the development of interaction between headquarters and units.<\/p>\n

“But large-scale command and military maneuvers are no longer just training for combat readiness,” said Dmytro Kuleba.<\/p>\n

Another factor he called the build-up of air defense systems in Belarus, which, he said, indicates preparations for possible strikes on its territory.<\/p>\n

“This requires air defense systems,” said Dmytro Kuleba.<\/p>\n

Kuleba also noted that there is increased coordination between Russia and Belarus at the level of agreeing plans, although there is no direct interaction between units.<\/p>\n

“Currently, not at the level of units, but at the level of coordination,” said Dmytro Kuleba.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, he emphasized that the combination of these factors may indicate preparations for escalation, but there are currently no signs of an immediate offensive.<\/p>\n

“I don’t see that an offensive is about to begin, but what is happening are preparations for a military escalation,” said Dmytro Kuleba.<\/p>\n

The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated about the risk of Belarus being drawn into a war against Ukraine<\/a> amid increased military activity on the border.<\/p>\n

Earlier it was reported that the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that the Belarusian Armed Forces are preparing for war.<\/a><\/p>\n
