The National Police has declared a suspect in a Moscow judge who convicted a Ukrainian prisoner of war of “terrorism.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the National Police of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Investigators found that Judge Dmytro Ivanov<\/span><\/span> issued an illegal sentence to a Ukrainian officer who was in the status of a prisoner of war.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This is a junior lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who was captured on December 23, 2024 during hostilities. According to the Geneva Convention, he had the status of a prisoner of war and was protected by international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Despite this, Russian law enforcement officers opened a case against him for “terrorism.” In fact, the soldier was being prosecuted for participating in hostilities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The case was transferred to the 2nd Western District Military Court of the Russian Federation in August 2025. Already on September 24, Judge Ivanov found the Ukrainian serviceman guilty and sentenced him to 14 years in prison.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In March 2026, the Russian Military Court of Appeals upheld the sentence.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Ukrainian investigators have classified the judge’s actions as a violation of the laws and customs of war. He is accused of depriving a prisoner of war of his right to a fair trial.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Olga Chernyavska, a resident of temporarily occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhia region, was sentenced to 13 years in prison on charges of “espionage.”<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As a reminder, Denis Golub, a Ukrainian prisoner of war and a member of the Azov regiment, was sentenced to 20 years in a maximum security colony<\/a> . The verdict in the case of alleged \u201cterrorism\u201d was handed down by the Southern District Military Court of Russia.<\/p>\n
