On the seventh anniversary of the second round of the 2019 presidential election, Petro Poroshenko called on the authorities to abandon populism and move towards a policy of responsibility and unity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> “European Solidarity”.<\/p>\n

The Fifth President emphasized that for seven years, Ukraine has not only been at war, but also faces deep exhaustion – human, economic, and institutional.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Seven years is quite enough time to honestly look at what happened to the country. Ukraine is exhausted today, and the first step to recovery is honesty,” he noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to Poroshenko, in 2019, society was looking for simple answers to complex questions, but reality proved that “the state is not a smartphone,” and there are no quick solutions.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The politician called for the formation of a “coalition of responsibility” that would unite various political forces around key issues – security, the economy, and the future of the state.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The country will not survive another period when politics is a competition of slogans instead of a competition of solutions,” he stressed.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Separately, Poroshenko emphasized the importance of restoring dignity and trust in society, returning to a full-fledged public debate, and rejecting simplistic approaches in politics.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Populism is always a short-term gain and a very high price that the country has already paid,” the opposition leader noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He also emphasized the need for a strong economy as the basis for the defense capability and development of the state, and called for the formation of a clear plan to end the war.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The country must hear the peace plan – not as a dream, but as a concrete strategy based on the strength of the army, the support of allies and diplomacy,” Poroshenko concluded.<\/p>\n
