Seventy Kyiv City Council members voted for this initiative from the European Solidarity faction.

The leader of the “EU” party in the Kyiv City Council, Maryna Poroshenko, notes that it is symbolic that Andriy Parubiy Street lies in close proximity to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – along Mariinsky Park, from Hrushevsky Street to Parkova Road.

“I thank every Kyiv resident who supported this initiative during the public discussion and voting on the Kyiv Digital portal, as well as my colleagues in the Kyiv parliament for their affirmative votes. I am convinced that this decision is extremely important for Ukraine. After all, Andriy’s name is inextricably linked with the establishment of Ukrainian statehood, the development of a modern parliamentary tradition, and the consistent protection of the Ukrainian language and national interests,” Maryna Poroshenko wrote on social media .

“Andriy Parubiy not only shaped the modern history of the Ukrainian parliament but also championed the state’s strategic course toward freedom, democracy, and a European future. He was a man of statist stature, for whom Ukraine always stood above political games. He represented a generation of independence builders who didn’t simply talk about a strong state but worked daily to establish it. Naming the thoroughfare near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine after him is a sign of deep respect for his contribution to the struggle for independence, the development of parliamentarism, and the strengthening of national resilience,” Maryna Poroshenko asserted.

“This decision isn’t about a plaque. It’s about memory and historical justice, which has finally found its place. Our European Solidarity team initiated this back in December. For us, this isn’t politics. It’s a duty. And today, the Kyiv City Council unanimously supported this initiative,” Petro Poroshenko responded to the decision .

“It’s symbolic that this street is at the intersection of Hrushevsky Street and Parkova Road. Nearby is the Verkhovna Rada. Nearby is Mariinsky Park. Nearby is the Maidan. All those places where the fate of the country was decided. And where Andriy Parubiy was. The Maidan commandant. The founder of Self-Defense. The head of parliament. A man who didn’t wait for history to happen—but created it as a politician, consistently standing for the Army, Language, and Faith—not as a slogan, but as the foundation of the state,” Poroshenko wrote on social media.

“We ran for parliament together in 2019. He was a close friend and one of those I relied on during difficult times. Frankly, it’s hard without Andriy. Today, when millions of Ukrainians are once again fighting for statehood – at the front, in the home front, in diplomacy – the question of historical justice ceases to be an abstraction. It becomes the answer to a very simple question: who are we honoring and why. Andriy Parubiy Street is the answer. It is a reminder that freedom and statehood have specific names. And now everyone who walks this street will have a chance to remember: Ukraine didn’t just emerge on its own. It was won and continues to be defended. And it is our duty to be worthy of this memory,” the fifth President emphasizes.

Let us recall that Andriy Parubiy was a people’s deputy of the European Solidarity faction.

Also follow “Pryamy” on Facebook , X , Telegram and Instagram.

Today, the capital has a Hero of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy Street.
