Seaborne supplies of Russian fuel oil and vacuum gas oil to Saudi Arabia increased by 18% in March and reached about 1 million tons.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The growth in exports is linked to rising oil prices amid the tense situation around Iran, which is changing global energy flows.<\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia has been actively buying Russian fuel at a discount for use in power plants. This approach allows the country to store its own oil for more profitable export. While demand for fuel oil in the kingdom usually increases in the summer, this year it has increased already in the spring.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

After the introduction of the European embargo in 2023, Russia reoriented exports to Asian and Middle Eastern countries, which became key sales markets.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, supplies to Singapore and Malaysia decreased by 23%, and exports to India fell by 66% and reached minimum volumes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Total seaborne exports of fuel oil and vacuum gas oil from Russia fell by 10% to 3.35 million tonnes in March, impacted by disruptions to shipments due to drone attacks on port infrastructure.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, the EU Council imposed sanctions against two organizations involved in Russian hybrid operations.<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Recall that since the beginning of 2026, Russia has sold more than 21.7 tons of gold to cover the budget deficit, which reached 4.6 trillion rubles as of March.<\/a> <\/p>\n
