The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine reacted to the sharp increase in fuel prices and appealed to gas station chains with a demand to explain prices with understandable market reasons.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As reported<\/a> by the department, the increase in the cost of gasoline, diesel and autogas began at the end of February. On March 9, the department opened a case due to possible anti-competitive concerted actions in the market. The collection and analysis of evidence is currently underway.<\/p>\n

In parallel, the committee monitors the situation on the fuel market every day. The department explains: prices increased not only due to the actions of companies, but also due to objective factors – the rise in oil prices in the world, the growth of quotations in the EU, problems with diesel imports, exchange rates and logistics costs. At the same time, the market remained unstable – in March and the first half of April prices either rose or fell.<\/p>\n

On April 23, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) provided official recommendations to the largest gas station chains. They are advised to set retail prices “based on objective economic factors,” taking into account not only the increase in the cost of purchases, but also their decrease.<\/p>\n

The committee emphasizes that the fuel market is competitive and socially important, as it affects prices throughout the economy. Therefore, companies must act in accordance with competition law.<\/p>\n

Gas stations must consider the recommendations within 10 days and report on their actions. The AMCU adds that if they see signs of further violations, they will react promptly.<\/p>\n

As reported, fuel prices have changed again in Ukraine. Diesel fuel and autogas rose the most<\/a> , while gasoline in most networks remained unchanged or increased only marginally.<\/p>\n
