Prime Minister Kristen Michal<\/span><\/span> stated that Estonia is promoting the idea of a complete ban on entry into the Schengen zone for Russian military personnel who took part in the war against Ukraine.<\/strong> <\/div>\n

According to him, such individuals could pose a serious threat to Europe’s security after the fighting ends. Michal emphasized that many have criminal records, and they could be glorified in Russia.<\/p>\n

“What will these people do? Most of them are criminals, but in Russia they will be treated as heroes,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also suggested that demobilized military personnel could form the basis of new private military formations, similar to the Wagner Group<\/span><\/span> , and operate not only in Europe, but also on other continents.<\/p>\n

Estonia’s initiative has already received partial support in the European Union<\/span><\/span> . In March, the European Council<\/span><\/span> included this issue in the conclusion of its summit, instructing the European Commission<\/span><\/span> to assess the feasibility of such a solution.<\/p>\n

At the same time, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Kaja Kallas<\/span><\/span> said that specific proposals could be presented as early as the next summit in June.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
