European countries are bracing for a protracted war between Russia and Ukraine amid a lack of progress in negotiations. Neither side currently has a clear path to victory or a peaceful settlement.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to journalists, the US is focused on the war in Iran, which is reducing its involvement in European security issues. In these conditions, Ukraine is effectively forced to continue a war of attrition with no clear prospects for completion.<\/p>\n

Analyst James Scherr noted that the negotiation process has not undergone significant changes.<\/p>\n

“We are essentially back where we were at the beginning of the negotiations,” said James Scherr.<\/p>\n

He also emphasized that the interests of Ukraine and Russia remain incompatible, and European countries are increasingly aware of the need for continued support for Kyiv.<\/p>\n

“Europeans understand that there is a fundamental incompatibility of the interests of Ukraine and Russia,” he said.<\/p>\n

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Russia does not perceive negotiations as a real tool for ending the war.<\/p>\n

“The truth is that Russia has never taken the negotiations seriously,” Boris Pistorius said.<\/p>\n

The European Union, in turn, has decided to provide Ukraine with financial assistance worth around \u20ac90 billion. The move is seen as a signal of long-term support amid a slowdown in US activity.<\/p>\n

Analyst Oleksandr Gabuyev noted that neither side currently feels critical pressure to conclude an agreement.<\/p>\n

“Ukraine does not need an agreement at any cost this year,” said Oleksandr Gabuyev.<\/p>\n

At the same time, expert Claudia Mayor emphasized the lack of a clear victory strategy among European partners.<\/p>\n

“We do not have a theory of victory for Ukraine,” said Claudia Mayor.<\/p>\n

Analysts say fighting continues without decisive change, while diplomatic efforts remain limited. The prospect of a ceasefire or peace agreement remains remote.<\/p>\n
