According to intelligence, such incidents could have occurred against the backdrop of food shortages and difficult conditions on the front.

This is reported by The Sunday Times .

Ukrainian intelligence officers have provided journalists with materials they say include photographs and intercepted audio recordings of conversations between Russian servicemen, including at least five cases where, according to sources, servicemen resorted to cannibalism.

It is noted that the incidents may have been isolated and occurred mainly in winter, when supply difficulties arose. Attention is also drawn to the possible influence of the psychological state of the military.

In one case, according to intelligence, a soldier with the call sign “Hromay” allegedly killed two fellow soldiers and tried to eat them.

“To make a long story short, one killed two and tried to eat one of them,” an unnamed Russian officer said in an intercepted message.

Other audio recordings also contain references to similar incidents. In one, a soldier complained to his commander about a fellow soldier who, he said, “ate human flesh.”

“I don’t want such a person near me,” the soldier said.

Separately, there is a report about an order from one of the commanders, which mentioned cannibalism among the prohibitions.

“No alcohol, no drugs, and no cannibalism,” the message said.

The journalists note that they were unable to independently verify the authenticity of these materials. At the same time, the Russian side rejected the accusations, calling them fabrications.

The article also notes that reports of food shortages among Russian troops have appeared before. According to experts, problems with logistics and supplies could affect the situation on the front lines.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , X , Telegram , and Instagram.

Ukrainian military intelligence has reported cases of cannibalism among Russian soldiers in eastern Ukraine.
