Russia has begun to station some of its military aircraft at civilian airfields, effectively using civilian infrastructure as cover for strategic bombers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

NV<\/a> writes about this with reference to satellite images from Maxar and SkySat.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

One such airport is Zhukovsky in the Moscow region. The images show at least four Tu-160 strategic bombers there, as well as one Tu-95 and one Tu-22M3.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that some of these aircraft are marked as museum exhibits on Yandex maps, journalists note that a comparison of satellite photos over the past six months has shown that they are regularly moved, which may indicate combat use.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Another airport is Petrozavodsk, near the border with Finland. A significant number of fighters and bombers, probably Su or MiG, have been spotted there. At least four of them are regularly flying.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At least two Su-30 or Su-34 aircraft, as well as at least two Su-24 bombers, are stationed at Anapa airfield in Krasnodar Krai.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Tu-134 training aircraft, which are used to train strategic aviation pilots, were spotted at the Mineralnye Vody International Airport in the Stavropol Territory.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In addition, at least six Il-76 military transport aircraft are based at the Nizhny Novgorod airport, most of which are currently operating for the needs of the Russian army.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Journalists emphasize that all of these airports officially remain civilian and accept passenger flights.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In fact, Russia is using civilian passengers as human shields, trying to protect its military aircraft from strikes.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the Ukrainian defense forces are more actively exploiting the weaknesses of Russian air defense and striking strategic targets far behind the front line.<\/a> <\/p>\n
