Ukraine is starting an army reform that will change approaches to the financial support of the military, the contract system, and the organization of service. The first changes are expected in June.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

According to him, the key areas of reform have already been agreed upon between the military command and the government.<\/p>\n

“We are starting the army reform. During April, key areas of change were agreed upon. The reform will start in June, and the first results should already be seen,” Zelensky said.<\/p>\n

One of the main decisions will be to increase the military’s financial support. The President emphasized that pay should depend on real combat experience and efficiency.<\/p>\n

“The minimum level should be at least 30 thousand hryvnias for rear positions. For combat positions – much more,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Separately, they plan to strengthen support for the infantrymen holding the front line.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Ukrainian infantryman must feel that the state respects him,\u201d the president emphasized.<\/p>\n

Special contracts are also being prepared for infantry with payments ranging from 250,000 to 400,000 hryvnias, depending on the tasks.<\/p>\n

In addition, the system of staffing units and personnel management will be changed. This includes strengthening the contract system and the possibility of gradually releasing some of those mobilized according to clear criteria.<\/p>\n

“I instructed the military command and the Minister of Defense to take into account the proposals of combat commanders and prepare specific steps,” Zelensky said.<\/p>\n

Next week, the president expects a detailed report on the launch of the reform and the schedule of changes.<\/p>\n

As reported, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, has issued an order introducing mandatory rotation of servicemen at frontline positions<\/a> . According to the order, the duration of their stay at the frontline should not exceed two months.<\/p>\n
