After the publication of reports about the president’s inner circle, and amid questions about Mindich, tapes, money, influence, and decisions, Bankova suddenly mentioned “national security.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

What is interesting about this story is that the decision was made by the National Security and Defense Council, where, as is known, the secretary, Rustem Umerov<\/strong>, was the main character of the recent leaks. So, while they were waiting for sanctions against him, he himself became an instrument of sanctions against others…
\nTomorrow, they will tell us that Zelensky simply signed the NSDC decision. Especially since, as I understand it, the NSDC initiated the sanctions…<\/p>\n

It is surprising that Umerov, at the height of the discussion of the tapes, in which the key point concerns him and Mindich, initiates sanctions against Bogdan, about whom there is nothing in the tapes. This is certainly not a defense of the state, but\u00a0rather a purely<\/strong><\/span> an attempt to divert attention<\/strong> and send a signal to everyone who knows something: keep quiet, because you will be next. If there are legal claims against a Ukrainian citizen, they must be presented in a legal manner.<\/p>\n

Court, evidence, procedure. And a decree for ten years does not punish enemies\u2014a\u00a0decree for ten years scares witnesses<\/strong> . Perhaps even current fans of the government will pay attention to the fact that sanctions have been imposed on the absolutely corrupt anti-hero Mindich for… three years.<\/p>\n

Bankova (new, good, reformed for the second time) finally normalizes the practice of extrajudicial punishment of Ukrainian citizens. Yesterday, sanctions against Poroshenko were sold to society as a preventive “exception.”<\/strong>\u00a0Today, the same tool is being used against the former head of the presidential office (don’t get me wrong, this is not about Yermak).<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, it can be used against a journalist, businessman, MP, witness, investigator, or anyone who becomes dangerous to Bankova, not because they threaten the state but because they threaten the version of events that Bankova wants to impose on the country.<\/p>\n

We have the final, convincing proof\u2014sanctions have now been transformed into an authoritarian extrajudicial instrument for punishing their political opponents and<\/strong> will continue to be used in a way that is already beginning to threaten national security. Because Ukraine is a state governed by the rule of law, such steps deprive Ukrainians of a European perspective.<\/p>\n

Sanctions are the state’s weapon against the enemy<\/strong>. When they are applied without a trial, without explanation, and against the backdrop of corruption scandals surrounding the president’s entourage, they turn into a political signal: whoever touches Mindich, the tapes, money, or Bankova’s secrets will receive a blow not in court, but through the National Security and Defense Council. And this is precisely what is most dangerous: under the guise of national security, the authorities begin to protect not the state, but their own corruption.<\/p>\n

When sanctions begin to protect not the state, but the political version of events, the problem is no longer in individual names. The problem is that the rule of law is being used to justify extrajudicial punishment. And this is a threat not to the rating. But to the state itself.<\/p>\n
