The UK government plans to start negotiations to join the European Union’s \u20ac90 billion loan program for Ukraine. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce his intention to work with the EU on supporting Ukraine and supplying military equipment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is expected that on May 4, during the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, Keir Starmer will declare Britain’s desire to join the European support program for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The loan, which the EU approved last month, is expected to cover about two-thirds of Ukraine’s needs over the next two years. A significant portion of the funding is earmarked for military spending.<\/p>\n

The British Prime Minister’s Office noted that additional funding could create new opportunities for British businesses to participate in meeting Ukraine’s urgent needs, particularly in the defense sector.<\/p>\n

Also this week, the UK plans to announce a new package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions are intended to disrupt Russian military supply chains.<\/p>\n

By the way, the EU Council approved amendments to the long-term budget of the European Union, which will allow Ukraine to receive a loan of 90 billion euros in 2026-2027<\/a> . Hungary lifted its veto after the resumption of Russian oil transit through the Druzhba oil pipeline.<\/p>\n
