According to investigators, about 50 tons of goods worth over 44 million hryvnias were sold through the scheme.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to law enforcement officials, the activities involved heads of several charitable foundations, as well as individuals who served as sales managers, drivers, and financiers. Humanitarian aid imported from Turkey was sold at the “7 km” market.

The investigation found that the defendants created controlled charitable funds to register the goods as humanitarian aid. After crossing the border, the goods were distributed among retail outlets and sold for cash.

According to the National Police, the organizer of the scheme is a former customs officer who used his own knowledge and connections to build a mechanism for illegal sales. He involved dozens of people in the activity, and rented warehouses were used to store the goods.

Thus, on April 30, law enforcement officers conducted 71 searches in Odessa and the Odessa region. During the investigative actions, goods, equipment, documentation, and other physical evidence were seized.

Three members of the group were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
