The bankruptcy of the famous American budget airline Spirit was a wake-up call for the entire global economy. The company, which had been following a policy of low prices for years, was unable to adapt to new market conditions when the price of oil reached $114\u2013118 per barrel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Manhattan University professor Igor Eisenberg, on the air of “Pryamoy” , linked<\/a> the carrier’s financial decline to a sharp jump in the cost of aviation fuel.<\/p>\n

“It went bankrupt, and it’s one of the largest American budget airlines that flies all over the country. That’s it, it stopped operating simply because it couldn’t withstand the sharp increase in aviation fuel prices and adhere to its policy of low airfares,” Eisenberg emphasized.<\/p>\n

According to the professor, this is just the “first swallow” of future economic shocks – the high cost of energy sources triggers a dangerous circle: logistics, production, and all consumer goods become more expensive.<\/p>\n
