Ukraine sees no reason to adhere to the “truce” that Russia is proposing for the May 9 celebration period.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> Kyiv Independent, citing a Ukrainian official.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the publication’s interlocutor, Kyiv does not consider it advisable to agree to a ceasefire for the sake of holding a Russian military parade.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“We just don’t see the point in sticking to this for the parade,” he noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This statement came amid reports from President Volodymyr Zelensky that Russia had already violated the ceasefire proposed by Ukraine 1,820 times as of the morning of May 6.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy previously said that Ukraine was ready for a ceasefire starting May 6. At the same time, Russian leader Vladimir Putin proposed a separate “truce” for May 8-9.<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to the General Staff, previous similar initiatives by Russia have not worked. In particular, during the “Easter truce” in April, the Russian side violated the agreements more than 10,000 times.<\/p>\n

Against this background, Moscow has already reduced the format of the May 9 celebration due to fears of possible attacks.<\/a><\/p>\n
