Iran has said that safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz is only possible under “new procedures” after the suspension of the US military operation in the waterway.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy noted that the transit of ships is possible under new conditions after the US suspended a short-term operation to escort commercial vessels.<\/p>\n

This is the “Project Freedom” mission, which Washington launched to assist shipping amid tensions in the region.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to media reports, this is Tehran’s first official reaction after the US decision to suspend the operation amid progress in negotiations.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Iranian side did not specify what exactly the “new procedures” entail, but thanked the shipowners and captains for adhering to “Iran’s rules” while passing through the strait.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At the same time, Tehran claims sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and plans to charge a fee for safe transit.<\/p>\n

International partners warn that such intentions could violate the law of the sea and set a dangerous precedent for global trade.<\/p>\n

Experts also note that Iran’s tough stance could complicate further diplomatic negotiations to reduce tensions in the region.<\/p>\n
