Russian propaganda resources have spread false information about an alleged attack by a “Ukrainian drone” on a passenger train in Latvia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the Center for Countering Disinformation. <\/p>\n

Fake reports claim that on the Riga – Daugavpils section, a drone allegedly hit a train, causing the engine compartment to catch fire, and passengers were evacuated and forced to sign non-disclosure documents.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

To reinforce the disinformation, propagandists used a real video of the evacuation of passengers, but presented it in a fictional context.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In fact, the fire on a diesel train occurred on May 5 at Nitsgale station and has no connection to drones. Official Latvian services and local media did not report any drone incidents that day.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Center for Countering Disinformation emphasizes that Russia systematically spreads such fakes about “Ukrainian drones” in the Baltic countries. Such insinuations are intended to discredit Ukraine, present it as a threat to NATO countries, and divert attention from Russia’s own actions in the region.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Russian propaganda is distributing a video in which fighters of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly “went over to the side of the Russian Federation” and raised Russian flags over their positions.<\/a><\/p>\n
