Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Magyar” Brovdy, said that Ukraine is unlikely to launch a symbolic strike on Red Square in Moscow on May 9. According to him, more effective targets remain Russian energy and military facilities, where Russian air defenses are weaker.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said this in an interview with The Guardian.<\/a><\/p>\n

Robert Brovdy said that Russia has significantly strengthened Moscow’s defenses ahead of the May 9 parade, so strikes on other targets could have a greater effect.<\/p>\n

“Why waste drones on the ‘great wall’? If you can hit the energy sector or military facilities, that would be the best strike, on the periphery,” said Robert Brody.<\/p>\n

The SBS commander noted that Ukraine could weaken Russia through attacks on the economic and energy infrastructure that provides funding for the war.<\/p>\n

“A ‘symbolic’ attack on Red Square would make headlines around the world, but Ukraine would most likely strike a ‘slap’ where Russian air defenses are weaker,” Brovdy said.<\/p>\n

Russia spends about 40% of its $530 billion budget on military needs, Brovdy said, adding that about 100 million tons of oil, worth $100 billion, are exported annually from Russian ports within range of Ukrainian drones.<\/p>\n

The SBS commander also commented on the losses of the Russian army in the war against Ukraine. According to him, over the past 5 months, the Russian Federation has been losing more soldiers than it is able to mobilize.<\/p>\n

“This affects the combat capability of the Russian army, reducing its offensive potential. This is a fact,” said Robert Brody.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he stated that strikes on oil terminals and fuel infrastructure facilities had already yielded results. In particular, Brody mentioned the attacks on the terminal in Tuapse.<\/p>\n

“Virtually everything there burned down,” said Robert Brody.<\/p>\n
