On May 11, the European Union<\/span><\/span> adopted a new package of sanctions targeting individuals involved in the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children from Russian-occupied territories.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in the Council of the EU’s official statement.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The new restrictions target 16 people and seven organizations, who are believed to be involved in the forced displacement of Ukrainian children, deportation to Russia, illegal adoption, and attempts to change their national identity.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The EU notes that children were not just taken out of Ukraine but were also included in programs with ideological influence. They were involved in so-called patriotic education, military activities, and training in accordance with Russian standards.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to preliminary estimates, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has taken away almost 20.5 thousand Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The sanctions list also includes state-run childcare centers that operate under the control of the Russian Ministry of Education. These include “Orlyonok,” “Alye Parusa,” and “Smena.”<\/p>\n

It was in these institutions that children from the occupied territories were involved in programs aimed at political influence, changing worldviews, and training in basic military skills.<\/p>\n

Brussels emphasized that such actions by Russia are systemic and aimed at forcibly separating Ukrainian children from their own country.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that Russian special services recruit Ukrainian children through online games<\/a>, disguising criminal tasks as “quests” and “game missions.”<\/p>\n

We will remind you that seven more children were returned from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region<\/a> as part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative.<\/p>\n
