Global oil prices continue to rise amid volatile geopolitical conditions and uncertainty surrounding US-Iran talks. As of the morning of May 12, benchmark Brent crude is trading at around $106.4 per barrel, while US WTI is around $100.6 per barrel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is evidenced<\/a> by Trading Economics data.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that prices were lower the day before. Brent was in the range of $103\u2013105, and WTI was in the range of $96.5\u2013100 per barrel. That is, the market is showing moderate but stable growth.<\/p>\n

Analysts explain this dynamic primarily by the fragile situation surrounding a possible truce between the US and Iran, as well as the lack of progress in the negotiations.<\/p>\n

US President Donald Trump previously said that the talks are effectively “on life support,” highlighting the differences between the parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cOptimism about an imminent deal is fading again, and if there is no deal by the end of May, the risks of rising oil prices will definitely remain on the agenda,\u201d said Suvro Sarkar, head of energy at DBS Bank, in a comment to Reuters.<\/p>\n

Experts add that if the negotiations progress, oil prices could drop sharply by $8-12 per barrel. At the same time, any escalation of the conflict or the threat of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could quickly push Brent above $115.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump is increasingly frustrated with the progress of negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program and a possible end to the war. His administration is already seriously discussing a scenario involving the resumption of large-scale hostilities.<\/a><\/p>\n
