In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a 44-year-old man who handed methadone pills to the accused during a court hearing in the Darnytskyi District Court. The suspect was charged with illegal sale of narcotics, which carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

According to investigators from the Darnytsia Police Department, the man had previously agreed with the prisoner to hand over the drugs during the court hearing. To do this, he brought a plastic container with methadone pills disguised as medication to the court.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, the defendant approached the accused, who was in a special enclosure under escort, and handed him a container with pills. The men’s actions were noticed by servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine and demanded to show the contents of the container.<\/p>\n

The accused then opened the container and began putting the pills into his mouth, trying to hide the illegal substances. The police stopped the man, and some of the pills fell to the floor. <\/p>\n

During the inspection of the scene, law enforcement officers seized 52 pills. The results of the inspection revealed that 26 of them contained the narcotic drug methadone.<\/p>\n

Police officers detained a Kyiv resident under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed him in a temporary detention center.<\/p>\n

Investigators under the procedural guidance of the Darnytsia District Prosecutor’s Office informed the man of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal production, manufacture, acquisition or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues. The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
