Today, May 15, in the village of Terlivka, Letychivska territorial community, Khmelnytskyi district, police officers were attacked with weapons during a document check. As a result of the injuries received, 33-year-old police captain Serhiy Chornyi died.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the National Police of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

According to police, the incident occurred during a document check on a driver who had been disqualified from driving by court order. During this, an armed attack was carried out on police officers.<\/p>\n

The attack left one police officer dead and another injured. The suspect then left the scene and fled.<\/p>\n

Operational and search measures have been launched in the Khmelnytskyi district to establish the whereabouts of the attacker and his detention. A special police operation has also been launched, involving investigative and operational groups, criminalists, and the regional police leadership.<\/p>\n

The department later reported<\/a> that the deceased was Serhiy Chorny, who served in the Ukrainian internal affairs bodies for over 15 years. In 2014, he graduated from the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs with a degree in Jurisprudence. <\/p>\n

During his service, he held the position of inspector of the patrol police response sector of police department No. 3 of the Khmelnytskyi RUP of the Main Police Department in the Khmelnytskyi region. Colleagues described him as a principled and dedicated law enforcement officer.<\/p>\n

The police noted that the death of the officer is an irreparable loss for his colleagues and family. The law enforcement officer is survived by his parents, wife, and two children.<\/p>\n

The day before, in Khmelnytskyi, patrol officers detained a man who opened fire in the middle of the street<\/a> . The incident occurred on Instytutska Street during patrol.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that law enforcement officers in Kyiv detained a man who opened fire in the Obolonsky district of the capital<\/a> . The incident occurred on Obolonsky Avenue after a conflict between two men.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on Friday, May 1, a shooting occurred in the Svyatoshynskyi district of Kyiv<\/a> . Law enforcement officers announced a special police operation to search for the shooter.<\/p>\n
