President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the heads of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the General Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the Central Military District of the Ukrainian SSR, and the Security Service of Ukraine on the security situation and Russia’s actions. They discussed Russia’s attempts to increase Belarus’ involvement in the war against Ukraine and possible threats in certain areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the meeting, data from Ukrainian security structures regarding contacts between Russia and the Belarusian leadership was reviewed. Zelensky noted that Ukraine is recording Russia’s attempts to further involve Belarus in the war against Ukraine and is aware of relevant contacts between the Russian side and Alexander Lukashenko.<\/p>\n

“We continue to record Russian efforts to further draw Belarus into the war against Ukraine,” he said.<\/p>\n

Also, according to him, Russia is considering options for possible operations from the territory of Belarus towards the southern and northern sections.<\/p>\n

“We know that there have been additional contacts between the Russians and Alexander Lukashenko, aimed at convincing him to join new Russian aggressive operations,” Zelensky added.<\/p>\n

We are talking about possible scenarios either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction in Ukraine, or against one of the NATO countries from the territory of Belarus.<\/p>\n

“Russia is considering plans for operations in the directions south and north of the territory of Belarus,” the head of state noted.<\/p>\n

The Ukrainian side claims to have details of the relevant conversations between Russia and Belarus. Following the meeting, it was instructed to strengthen the relevant direction and prepare a response plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cUkraine will undoubtedly defend itself and its people,\u201d said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n
