Over the past year, the Netherlands has supplied Ukraine with weapons and military equipment worth over 5 billion euros.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in a report by the Dutch Ministry of Defense.<\/p>\n

The department noted that the increase in military aid to Ukraine is due to a reduction in support from the United States.<\/p>\n

The Hague also reported that 3 billion euros have already been reserved for further military support for Ukraine by 2026.<\/p>\n

The Netherlands continues to train the Ukrainian military and supply air defense systems, combat vehicles, and other weapons.<\/p>\n

The country’s Ministry of Defense emphasized that the current geopolitical situation requires the Netherlands to quickly strengthen its own military potential.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The country’s armed forces have grown by around 5,600 personnel over the past year. The Dutch defense sector currently employs more than 80,000 people, and the government plans to increase this figure to 100,000 by 2030.<\/p>\n

The Dutch defense budget in 2025 reached around 26 billion euros, almost 5 billion more than the previous year. Thus, the country exceeded NATO’s defense spending target of 2% of GDP.<\/p>\n

The country’s government explains the acceleration of army modernization by the war in Ukraine and the growth of global threats.<\/p>\n

The Dutch Ministry of Defense is also actively investing in new weapons systems, drones, ammunition, and military technology.<\/p>\n

Among the key projects is the joint procurement of Leopard 2A8 tanks with Germany, with deliveries expected from 2027.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Netherlands, together with Austria and Sweden, is implementing a program to purchase C-390 military transport aircraft.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The country is paying special attention to the development of artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, and satellite surveillance. Last year, the Netherlands invested 390 million euros in these areas and launched four operational satellites to monitor military threats from space.<\/p>\n
