Latvia has been on air alert for the third day in a row due to drone threats near its eastern border. The country has beefed up its air defenses and scrambled NATO fighter jets to respond.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the National Armed Forces of Latvia.<\/p>\n

According to the military, at least one drone was in the country’s airspace, prompting NATO forces patrolling the skies over the Baltics to be put on alert.<\/p>\n

An air threat was declared in Ludza, Rezekne, Kraslav and Aug\u0161daugava districts.<\/p>\n

The Latvian army stated that, together with its allies, they are constantly monitoring the situation and are ready to respond to any risks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have strengthened air defense capabilities along the eastern border by deploying additional units,\u201d the Latvian National Armed Forces reported.<\/p>\n

The military also warned that as long as Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, similar incidents involving drones approaching or flying over could continue to occur.<\/p>\n

Residents were urged to stay in shelters or follow the two-wall rule during the alert.<\/p>\n

According to local media, airspace warnings in the Latgale region have been issued for the third day in a row.<\/p>\n
