It still bears witness to so much grief and joy. It was hidden from foreign powers. It was treasured in chests during times of famine and repression. It was passed down to children when their lives were shattered for their Ukrainian identity. In the suitcases of those forced to save children from Russian missiles. It&#8217;s still in secret closets in the occupied territories, where people keep it next to the flag and await the day of liberation. For some, it&#8217;s a shirt from their grandmother, a family heirloom. For others, it&#8217;s their first embroidered shirt, bought during the war. For everyone, it&#8217;s a beautiful tradition and a true talisman. I thank everyone wearing it today. Look how the streets of our cities are filled with beautiful and sincere people in embroidered shirts. No one asked them, forced them, or organized them. They simply want to be Ukrainians. I thank our soldiers, thanks to whom we can wear it freely. And we are doing everything we can to ensure that no one can ever again forbid us to be ourselves.
