Power outages are possible in Ukraine in the summer of 2026, but their extent will depend on several factors at once – heat, the condition of nuclear power plants, and Russian attacks on the energy sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> the head of the League of Energy Development of Ukraine, Oleksandr Golizdra, reports “Telegraph”.<\/p>\n

According to him, in normal summer weather the system works stably, but the situation changes dramatically during the heat. When the temperature exceeds +25\u2026+30\u00b0C, people turn on air conditioners en masse, and electricity consumption increases rapidly.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn heat of 30\u00b0C and above, with each additional degree, the load increases by hundreds of megawatts,\u201d the expert explained.<\/p>\n

Another important factor is the repair of nuclear units. In the summer, some of the power units of the NPP are traditionally undergoing scheduled maintenance. If only one unit is being repaired at a time, outages may be minimal. If more, the risk of outages increases.<\/p>\n

Electricity imports and thermal generation also have an impact. At the same time, the expert notes that the efficiency of some installations decreases in the summer, so they produce less electricity than in the winter.<\/p>\n

He separately emphasized that the situation could be complicated by Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The specialist adds that it is currently impossible to accurately predict outage schedules, but they may still occur during certain periods of the summer.<\/p>\n
