An explosion occurred at a plant belonging to MOL<\/span><\/span> , Hungary’s largest transnational oil and gas company.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced<\/a> this.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, one person died and several others were seriously injured as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Energy Minister Istvan Kapit\u00e1ny<\/span><\/span> and the company’s CEO , Zsolt Gern\u00e1di,<\/span><\/span> went to the scene of the accident in Tisza\u00fajv\u00e1ros<\/span><\/span> .<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

MOL<\/span><\/span> said the explosion occurred during the restart of the Olefin 1 unit at the MOL Petrolk\u00e9mia facility.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“An explosion occurred during the restart of the Olefin 1 plant at MOL Petrolk\u00e9mia’s Tisza\u00fajv\u00e1ros facility. Firefighters contained the fire… Experts are investigating the circumstances of the accident,” the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to Telex<\/a><\/span> , several fire crews and a mobile laboratory are on the scene. Eyewitnesses also reported the arrival of a rescue helicopter.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Tisza\u00fajv\u00e1ros Mayor Gy\u00f6rgy F\u00fcl\u00f6p<\/span><\/span> stated that there is currently no need to impose civil defense measures. He added that the authorities are in constant contact with rescue services and MOL management.<\/p>\n
