The European Union does not consider Belarus as a possible mediator in future peace talks on Ukraine due to Minsk’s support for Russian aggression.<\/strong><\/p>\n

European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper made this statement during a briefing in Brussels, commenting on statements by self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko about his readiness to join the peace process.<\/p>\n

According to a European Commission spokeswoman, there is a lack of trust in the Belarusian leadership due to the Lukashenko regime’s long-standing support for Russia’s military actions against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“When it comes to trust in Lukashenko’s regime, it’s zero. Therefore, there’s no reason to even seriously consider their mediation. We strive for a just and lasting peace for Ukraine,” Hipper emphasized.<\/p>\n

The European Commission also noted that consultations within the EU are ongoing on possible conditions for achieving sustainable peace and potential steps by Russia.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Brussels believes that Moscow is currently not demonstrating a real readiness for a constructive negotiation process.<\/p>\n

Earlier , Pryamyi reported<\/a> that US Special Representative Steve Witkoff<\/span><\/span> stated that new progress could be made in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in the near future. According to him, the negotiation process is ongoing.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/span><\/span> also emphasized<\/a> that Ukraine will not agree to a peace agreement with Russia if it includes additional territorial concessions.<\/p>\n

According to him, the Russian side’s demands for the complete withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are unacceptable.<\/p>\n
