The UK Court of Appeal has rejected an appeal by former owners Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov against the previous ruling of the High Court of England and Wales regarding PrivatBank.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The bank’s press service reported this on May 22.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the bank “successfully defeated an attempt by its former owners” to appeal the previous decision, made in July 2025:<\/p>\n

“Accordingly, the decision to recover from Kolomoisky and Mr. Bogolyubov in favor of PrivatBank over $3 billion in damages, interest, and legal costs remains in effect.”<\/p>\n

Thus, the Court of Appeal upheld the initial decision of the High Court of England and Wales, according to which Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov must compensate PrivatBank for the damages caused.<\/p>\n

“In particular, the Court of Appeal rejected the former owners’ arguments that they had recouped the embezzled funds from proceeds received as a result of further fraudulent actions against the Bank,” the bank stated.<\/p>\n

In the future, the institution plans to seek enforcement of the court decision on the seized assets of the former beneficiaries in order to obtain compensation.<\/p>\n

“We are determined to recover the significant funds that were stolen so they can be returned and used for the benefit of the people of Ukraine. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our stakeholders and international partners, without whom this remarkable victory would not have been possible,” said Nils Melngailis, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PrivatBank.<\/p>\n

On May 15, Interfax reported that the Civil Chamber of the Court of Appeal in London had completed hearing the arguments of the parties.<\/p>\n

Former Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka claimed that the case against Poroshenko is Kolomoisky’s revenge at the hands of Zelensky.<\/p>\n

The UK Supreme Court previously confirmed that<\/a> the nationalization of PrivatBank was the right decision.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, PrivatBank won a case in an English court against its former owners<\/a> , Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov. The decision was confirmed by the bank’s press service.<\/p>\n

Previously, based on Kolomoisky’s statements, four more cases were opened<\/a> against Poroshenko over PrivatBank.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
