Olga Cheren,<\/span><\/span> head of the Kovel district military administration,<\/span><\/span> stated that the situation on the border with Belarus within the Volyn region remains calm and under control, and measures to strengthen defenses are ongoing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She spoke about this on the Public<\/a> Channel.<\/p>\n

According to Cheren, strengthening of border areas and other measures have been underway since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Despite the potential risks of an offensive from Belarus, local residents continue to work as usual.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Yesterday, we met with the President of Ukraine and discussed once again how to strengthen our defense and the protection of border areas. Community leaders are also actively involved in strengthening the border and the perimeter defense of populated areas,” she noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Cheren reported that in the event of a threat of complete evacuation, four border communities in the Kovel district\u2014around 50,000 people\u2014will be subject to evacuation. According to her, evacuation sites have already been identified.<\/p>\n

The official emphasized that residents of border areas are informed about the procedure to follow in case of danger and are prepared for a possible evacuation.<\/p>\n

“Our population is working as usual. We’re sowing, tending fields, and doing all the agricultural work. People know how to act properly in the event of a threat,” she said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The head of the Kovel District Military District also added that there is no panic among the population, and local residents trust the Ukrainian Defense Forces.<\/p>\n

“People have faith in our defense forces and hope that Lukashenko won’t get involved in this war. We’re not panicking \u2013 the region is functioning as usual,” Cheren concluded.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the heads of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) regarding the situation and Russia’s actions<\/a> . The discussion focused on Russia’s attempts to further involve Belarus in the war against Ukraine and potential threats in certain areas.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the occupying country’s intelligence services are preparing a large-scale provocation in Belarus,<\/a> involving elements of a false flag operation, with the goal of accusing Ukraine of sabotage in that country. According to the analytical department of the Right Cause public interest group, Russian intelligence services are preparing a provocation involving strikes on oil refineries and fuel and lubricant warehouses in the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\n
